From student to business

My former student that posted his perspective in my previous blog post has utilized his skills and using his endless dedication and has turned it into a successful career.
Brian Ellis now has his own business at http://www.anocial.com built on his social skills.
Why this is interesting in a “web 2.0 in the classroom” kind of way is that I introduced him to it in the classroom and it ended up in a career.

This is a very real monitory result.

Does this justify teaching social media how to use it in the classroom on a collegiate level?

As a technology school I can see how this could work. Presenting the material in a security sense. Examples include what to include in a profile. Security settings in Facebook. What not to say. As well as supporting social media in the work force.

Thoughts?
